Hello, it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged. Thankfully, the main reason for that is that I have been very busy with interior design projects. For that I’m very grateful. However, I’ve neglected my website and certainly have not provided any design advice for those seeking it via the internet. So it is my intention to commit to blogging regularly – hopefully at least once a week and sharing my interior design experiences, in the hopes that it will benefit some one out there and also help me analyze my own design process.

The designer within 2010 @ SPIRE is an interior design competition televised on Rocky Mountain PBS last month. I, along with approximately a hundred or so local interior designers met to compete for the top three spots and the chance to transform the interior of one of three SPIRE identical floor plans. The units were all basic with kitchen and bathroom already completed, but the paint selection, drapery, furnishings, decorations and art were completely up to each designer. The selection process was based 100% on a design board.

The common system used here is GUTTERS and DOWNSPOUTS – the aluminum troughs that run around the exterior of your home are the gutters and the downspouts are the portions that run vertically from the gutter to the ground. exterior-windowExterior Window Brick Molding – In this example the old windows were replaced with glass block. Glass block comes in a variety of sizes, but most often no matter what size you select you will have an extra gap – either on the sides or on the top and bottom. This can be filled in with wood and covered on the interior rather easily with a ledge, trim or building the wall up to the new window size. However, the exterior building material is brick.
